There are numerous such resources available, allowing you to avoid waste and put even old parts you have no further use for to a positive purpose that helps someone else.

Here are some additional outlets to consider for appliance donation after your next appliance replacement.
RAD Program
Short for Responsible Appliance Disposal, the RAD program is one that’s been around since 2006 and is run by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). It’s in place primarily for the disposal of refrigerators and freezers, plus related items, allowing for these materials to be disposed of carefully and properly to reduce any risk of releasing harmful substances into the environment.
This program also helps save landfill space and avoid release of used oil or mercury. In many cases, there are even financial incentives associated with participating in this program. For all items in the fridge and freezer realm, strongly consider the RAD program when it comes time for replacement.
Community Stores
There are also a number of community thrift stores in each major city and even many smaller ones, and you should be sure to check on these if you can’t find other great outlets to donate your used appliances to. One common example in many cities is St. Vincent de Paul, a national group that has stores throughout the country. Chapters can be found in your yellow pages under Social Service Organizations, and will generally allow for both pick-up or drop-off of your appliances.
Churches and Other Non-Profits
Finally, there are a number of churches and other non-profit groups in place in most major cities that are happy to take these items and assist with the facilitation of their donation. Many such groups have a wide network of individuals and families in need across your city or town, split up into various areas of need that may include appliances or related home items. This is one of the most direct ways to benefit the community for those who have no further use for a given appliance.
