Risks of No Fall HVAC Tune-Up: Safety, Longevity, Comfort

In part one of this two-part blog series, we went over some of the key risks you’re taking if you skip seasonal maintenance for your HVAC system this fall. Basic fall maintenance is one of two yearly appointments that helps keep your furnace, AC and other important HVAC components in great shape, but skipping this appointment comes with a few major risks – both short-term and long-term.

At All Pro Appliance Service, we’re happy to offer AC and furnace repair and maintenance services among our numerous appliance solutions for clients around Salt Lake City and nearby areas. While part one of our series went over things like cost risks, warranty concerns and efficiency issues that can come with skipping fall HVAC maintenance, today will go over a few of the other problems you put your system at greater risk for by doing this.

Family and Personal Safety

From a safety standpoint, any HVAC system that hasn’t been properly maintained comes with some risks. For instance, carbon monoxide (CO) leaks are a concern for any gas-based system, and proper maintenance is the top safeguard against this risk.

There are also issues like electrical shorts, damaged fan blades or coils, and other potential safety hazards that may arise due to lack of maintenance. You’re not only risking your own safety by skipping fall HVAC maintenance, you’re also putting family members or tenants who live in the property at risk as well if you rent it out.

System Longevity

When maintained properly, a quality heating and cooling system can last for decades – as long as 20 or even 25 years in some cases. However, when you skip fall maintenance and don’t take the proper steps to keep your system clean, lubricated and running efficiently, this number can drop significantly.

Skipping basic annual tasks like changing filters and inspecting the furnace’s blower motor can turn small issues into major ones over time, eventually leading to an early failure or replacement need and significant costs.

Simple Comfort

Another area many don’t think about, but which is impacted by skipping fall HVAC maintenance? Your comfort. While you may save a few dollars in the short-term by doing so, you’re also putting yourself at risk of far less comfortable living spaces, particularly during colder winter months where heating performance is key for both your health and your quality of life.

Don’t take this kind of risk – contact our team at All Pro Appliance Service today to learn more about how we can help with all your fall HVAC maintenance needs. Whether you need minor tune-ups or complete HVAC installation, we have the solutions for you.
